Drowning

a day in my life, my thoughts at the moment

I'm proud of me

Oct 17 2010
I am very proud of myself, even if no one else is. To most people it sounds silly, but to me it's a big deal. I have been trying to quit smoking since last year when I went from smoking a pack a day(20 cigarettes) or more to smoking only 10 cigarettes a day, but for the past week I have been smoking anywhere from 13-15 cigarettes a day because of nervous energy/stress. I was feeling very disappointed in myself and depressed because of this and it seemed like the more I tried to cut back the more I smoked. I am VERY hard on myself when I don't meet my own expectations and goals. Well, yesterday I finally did it! I only smoked 10 cigarettes and I didn't even realize it until the last 1 of the day. I was instantly filled with excitement and pride in myself! Today I'm determined not to go past 10 cigarettes and I'll even give myself the chance to smoke 1 more but not more than that. I just had to share that! Thanks for reading

Great Job! I quit many years ago and I have to say it was one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life. I smoked about 2 packs a day. The hand to mouth thing was tough too. I couldn't figure out what to do with my hands so, I started suckin on toosie popssmilies/smiley.gif

Celebrate your decision to quit. That in itself is Huge! You will get there. You have every reason to be proudsmilies/smiley.gif

oh boy, this is great. I am very proud of you. This is a major accomplishment. I wish I could do that right now, but no way I think it's great that you didn't even notice it. You just did it on your own. It's going to get easier I think. You are doing fantastic and I have full faith in you that you can do this. Congratulations.

Fantastic, Proud of You, too!! Gave up smoking 14 years ago- finally quit on the 3rd attempt.Echo the wise words of all the posters above especially my fine friend Shelley ;-)!

Try to go more gentle on your good self! Try to quit beating yourself up with negative self talk if you do not quite meet a target or expectation , too, you owe it to You to go more easy on you as it is not about how many times we slip up yet how many times we pick ourselves up then try again- so keep trying!! Focus on all your achievements plus the fact that you are trying to better yourself in all kinds of kind ways- this is really important too. Life is a journey/quest!

Have faith in You, too!

Giant gentle hugs, love Clarita:-)xooxooxoox
