RE: Switchin' to Zoloft...'cause the Paxil ain't workin'!

Jun 27 2012

Today begins the transition of my switch to Zoloft from Paxil. I'm a bit worried about the side effects, etc., but, believe it or not, I actually feel better...well, already!

Not 100% better, but some of my symptoms have lessened already after a couple of hours. Apparently, my Paxil wasn't working at all anymore. I suppose that's par for the course - I mean, you gotta build up a tolerance to medication like this at some point. I suppose after 9-10 years of taking Paxil it probably wasn't working anymore, right?

I am probably most leary about the side effects of coming off of Paxil; however, I know that Zoloft is also an SSRI, so I'm hoping that their similarities will outweigh the possible negative side effects of going off of the Paxil. Of course, the doc is weaning me off of the Paxil - I took 20 mg (down from 40 mg) of the Paxil today and took 25mg (out of a 50 mg pill) of the Zoloft today.

So far, so good...a little jittery - however, I had a cup of coffee - and my mother just left a few minutes ago after spending a week with me through this baloney - so I think it's probably a combination of those things - plus the fact that I was already anxious/depressed.

I know I will eventually be fine; it's just gonna take a while :)

I was on zoloft for 10 years and it was a wonder drug for me...My panic attacks and depression were eliminated. The only reason I am no longer on it, is that after 10 years it stopped working for me. Good luck, you will do fine!
