Never brag about feeling better

Nov 21 2010

I just re-read my September post about feeling better, hair growing back, etc.  Within weeks after I wrote that I started being symptomatic again.  I've had terrible cold intolerance, my hair is falling out like a chemo patient (I had to resort to a hairpiece), my skin is dry, I feel fatigued all the time.  I haven't been posting as much because of it, I've been going

Achieving Balance

Sep 15 2010

I realize now how important it is to achieve a balance - and how important it is to keep a vigilant eye out for symptoms of imbalance.  I'm thinking about cortisol of course, the symptoms of being low, etc...but it applies to everything else in life from eating right to exercise, to ...everything!

I have been greatly helped by staying on a hypoglycemic diet as much as

Updating Life

Apr 05 2010

I realize I hadn't entered a diary post in nearly a year, figured it was time.  All in all, many things have stabilized and I'm still getting used to other things.  My blood pressureseems to have stabilized, largely in part I think due to the cardiologist's advice to begin walking.  I try to walk at least 20 minutes five times a week, 30 when I can.  It seems to

Blood Pressure Problems

May 23 2009

It's been a tough week, feeling very dizzy and breathless a lot, and had two episodes of extreme insensitivity to cold.  Went to cardio yesterday and he is very certain it's not my heart, but my blood pressure is erratic.  It was 160/110 in his office but it goes up and down all day.  He suggested tracking it to see when the highs and lows occur, if there is a predictable

Up and Down

May 14 2009
My blood pressure has been up and down, went to the GP today and he said it's the prednisone?  But I need the prednisone to live so what the?  He suggested going in for a stress test on my heart so I will next week.  He also said I will definitely gain weight with the prednisone, I said that the endo said I wouldn't because it's hormone replacement, not extra, and he sai

Up and Down

May 02 2009
I'm feeling fairly well most days, but have days where I'm very weak, even lightheaded at times and the day is hard to get through.  It's hard because it's not something predictable.  I "topped off" the daily dose one day - had to - but I worry about taking too much.  It's so hard to know whether or not to trust myself regarding when I need more.

Better Week

Apr 25 2009
Had a rocky start to the week - Monday I was very much in a brain fog and lost my keys TWICE!  Second time they were in the car!  Rest of the week went much better, except that I was very hungryhopefully not because of the prenisone.  I can't afford to gain any weight, I'm already having a problem with that.  I seem to be getting psychologically adjusted to having this

Just getting back to my life

Apr 17 2009
I went for a walk today!  Doesn't sound like much, but to me it's the world.  I had to quit walking in October because it made me dizzy; now I realize the Addison's was causing meto get low blood pressure after I used up the little bit of cortisol I had.  It was so freeing to walk and not be dizzy!  It's a good day!!

Newly Diagnosed

Apr 15 2009

I was diagnosed with hypopituitarism and Addison's five weeks ago.  I had been sick for months, possibly years, of not feeling well.  Extreme fatigue, muscle pain, etc.  This yearI began with extreme, painful coldness.  It was a feeling of being cold unlike anything I ever experienced, and I couldn't get warm.  I would stand in the hot shower for long, long time
