Why wear a ribbon?

MDJunction to me

djfilippone"Before I found this site I felt so alone.  Watching my daughter struggle with IH and being treated like she had two heads from doctors.    I have plenty of family and friends but there was nobody that really knew what she was going through.
I not only have support and love from others who will listen and share their
story, but I have made some forever friends.  Having this support site does make a difference to many.

I was wondering if any of the rest of you with fibro. were told that you have reactive hypoglycemia.  I was.  From a three hour glucose tolerance test I took (at least I think thatis what they called it)  they noticed at the one hour mark my blood sugar reading was in the normal range.  At the two hour mark my blood sugar was low.  I guess they explained to me that my body was overcompensating by producing too much insulin.  I guess it was explained to me to help deal with this condition I should eat smaller more frequent meals making sure I have protein with each one.  I have been working on doing this but it sure isn't easy at times.  I really crave carbs.  Do any of the rest of you with fibro. whether you have been diagnosed with reactive hypoglycemia or not really crave carbs?  It can definitely be a challenge.  I do notice when I do eat a lot of carbs that I have been craving it just messes us my energy level even more so I do know it's important.  Logically knowing it's important though and carrying it out can be two very different things.  Well enough on that issue.  Later all.  Take care. <hugs> Cheryl

Yes, I have had this issue forever and lately I have found almonds to be a live savor when I want to grab carbs and protein shakes (I got a chocolate one made from pea, hemp, and chia protein powder! and add it to almond milk) Also, I try and eat nutrient dense carbs like lentils or put some beans in my salads and soups. I found an awesome gluten free corn quinoa pasta and Walmart carries brown rice flax seed crackers! Don't know if this helps but I feel you on the energy levels. Hope you are feeling better soon.
