Hello!
You might remember I offered to lend a little hand as a non-profit marketing agency biz owner? So -- just a little update
I wanted you all to know that I am trying to offer my two cents from the Agency side and will send something soon for your approval/comments/feedback -
I saw SO many folks interested and Dragonfly, and the REST of you are doing a GREAT job. I am amazed at the energy and passion. BECAUSE YOU ARE RIGHT!
You guys are doing, in essence ,what I do pretty much as my job:
Rallying, Motivating, Acting - and hopefully raising Awareness and Education about FMS - chronic pain and the MANY facets therof.
AND - I think this is a way to reach lots of individuals quickly
As well as THE WONDERFUL - PERSONAL voices and all of the individual things you all are doing.
I am thinking my efforts might compliment yours behind the scenes.
I am working with the my creative team (copywriter) and will have something to send DRAFT LETTER shortly -- then (and I think this is what you thought might be easier for some? Dragonfly) if a person wanted to they could use the same piece --- if they wanted to. TO ALL: Please do not feel like you should or had to.
Bear w/me - I have a few balls in the air BUT expect something done for review by Monday (evening at the latest, maybe Sunday?). I spoke to copywriter and will meet w/her on Friday.
I would not offer to help if I couldn't BUT jwill not be able to reply today or tomorrow -- sorry (but please let me know your thoughts -- if you don't hear me from me you will soon).
Just to give you the basics of my /YOUR "campaign"
I DO believe we will end up with something that is professional and cohesive -- I really don't want to sound arrogant or anything BUT we do want to realize it IS a numbers game. I order "lists" for clients with the idea that it is NOT a sniper shot but a strategic "grenade" in an identifed area. OK :-)
We have already done the research, i need to narrow it down now. I will locate the BEST potential PR list(s) of Radio Program Directors and TV directors. Anywhere from 1000 to 3000 (maybe more?) will be transmitted and I intend to use the venues of Email and FAX blasts. Later I will try mail the same letter - maybe with a card" signed by MdJunctioners and all who still suffer this xxx disease........ "etc.
I HOPE you will help me - I will want your FEEDBACK and comments. WHAT the message SAYS is the most important thing in this type of exercise. Then who gets it!
I am just picking up on the great stuff you are already doing!
IT IS YOUR MESSAGE not mine - I just hope it will be what you like. And if NOT then we will tweak it. Please know that no matter what i do - it will not be as perfect or personal as the message you have EACH done!! but hopefully will find a way to say AS much of what can be said in one plcae. Meanwhile to ALL --KUDOS!
You all have helped SO much, I have great fodder here - because it is YOUR/OUR story i will try to tell - I have been PM'ing with Dragonfly and a few others. I have the "who" covered. Remember -- These program directors get tons of letters and press released daily. They are on LISTS, just like the ones I order for my clients: PR distribution, "send-to-editor", and then interns go through these and then they are culled back again before it is decided what/who gets published or announced.
The letter, in order to be NOTICED should open w/ a STRONG sentence or two...WHY WE ARE WRITING YOU TODAY.... (the open - the "grab" hopefully what will keep the reader reading :-))
THEN I think we totally want to touch on 3 primary points:
1.) what it is - define the problem
2.) What happens - define/describe the issues created by the problem
3.) what we WANT - which is"
-- Compassion/understanding
-- Awareness/Education of others - to seek help or appreciate WE ARE seeking help (not imagining/whining or lazy)
--- Awareness/Education of others - to GIVE help/support- Medical Pro's, Employers, Government/Family
then one or two sentence to EMPOWER & PROMPT the reader to get more info (The CALL to Action)
then the CLOSE -- Roy?? Can i sign this and use the MDJunction tag? I would include a byline below "MDjunction is a online community ......" whatever you want said ---- please PM me
