Oct 12 2011
My mother made a very sick crack about hearing voices and now I am heart and feel like a fool.  Does this ever happen to anyone else?  :'(

It hasn't really happened to me but I have made silly comments about our disorder. It is never vindictive. I just feel that WE should be able to laugh at ourselves. I have a huge issue when things are said for no other reason that to hurt us, though. I don't think that is right.

Is it possible to chalk this up as ignorance and move past it? I know that is hard especially when it comes from "family".

Hang in there, hon. smilies/smiley.gif

My mom doesn't fully understand what's up with me but she tries and can be a little harsh sometimes. Any more when she ask how I'm doing I say I'm doing great now wait I'm kinda down no wait I'm doing great no wait I'm kinda down.....I usually repeat myself until she stops me.

This happens to me as well. I've had comments like "oh so your crazy huh?" or "people who kill or do horrible things always have some mental illness like bipolar" It also hurts when people joke about rape. I've had people say things like "oh just bend me over and rape me". These really hurt me deeply and I just wanna start yelling at them and tell them it isn't funny! It's sad that people don't stop to think about these things because they just aren't funny and they happen to a lot of people smilies/sad.gif
Take Care,
Lil
