MDJunction to me

cinderella"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....

thanks MDJunction

Can anyone relate? What is our new normal? Will we always be judged because we have mood swings? I sleep great now like I use to and I am happy like I usually am. It has been difficult for me to open up at all even on here when I was depressed but I read alot of posts and that did help me cope.

MANAGING YOUR DEPRESSION
Written by Peace4Rach
15 September 2011

Depression is something many of us have endured for years. Most don't understand unless, they themselves have experienced depression personally. For some of us, it's a  daily challenge to get up each morning and find the motivation and energy to get through what life has in store for us. For some, depression is debilitating and daily functioning is greatly impaired like difficulting holding down a job/work or simply managing the daily self-care which other individuals do without a thought. Depression hurts, some days worse than others. Sometimes it comes in cycles and we don't know how to get outselves out of it. None of us asked to have depression. Yet it is one of our life challenges. There is hope and help out there and it can be managed.

Depression can be managed and we can lead normal lives

Depression can be managed and we can lead normal lives

1. Recognize that this is an illness and there is help out there.

2. There are therapist and medications that can help

3. There are alternative methods you can research

4. There are some dietary foods that can boost your mood

5. Exercise too can boost your mood, even just getting out for a few minutes each

day in nature can help your mood.

6. Most importantly is finding a good support system of persons who understand

    what you are going through.

7.  Lastly, try not to isolate all day. Find some way to stay connected to the world

by communicating with others. It helps you know you are not alone in this.

When Life Hands You Lemons, and Other More Realistic Sayings
Written by gettingbetter
19 March 2011
Sometimes life gives you things you don't want. Like depression, for instance. It sucks. However, sometimes we can makes something good or at least livable out of what we are given, and that includes mental illness. That does not mean that mental illness is a goodness. It's simply something that exists, like a hard piece of granite or low quality clay or a flawed uncut diamond. While I think the saying "when life give you lemons, make lemonade" is one of the most trite and ridiculous statements ever, the idea behind it has some merit.
