Autism Thoughts
Written by quiact

Autism is one of what I believe are a number of what are called passive developmental disorders- and autism is the most common.  Autism is a disability caused by a brain development disorder of unknown cause, yet some suspect the cause is some sort of neurological dysfunction.  Usually, symptoms of the disease present themselves before the toddler reaches the age of three.  Before Autism was more understood, others labeled them as childhood schizophrenia or as having a psychosis or mental retardation.

What are the symptoms
Written by littlebopeep1
25 August 2008

The symptoms appear by the time your child or children are 3 years of age. I am not saying that if one child has this that both will. You can't compare one child with another it doesn't work that way. And I am not saying that it can't happen cause it can. I just want everyone to understand that things happen everyday in (LIFE) and we may not want this to happen to ourselves or our kids but this is something that we can't control, or nor we have to like it but it is something that we all have to learn to deal with day in and day out..

What are the symptoms?

Symptoms almost alway's start before the child or children is 3 years of age. Usually, parents first notice that their toddler or toddlers has not started talking yet and is not acting like the other children the same age.

Symptoms of autism include:

A delay in learning to talk, or not talking at all. A child may seem to be deaf, even through the hearing teat is normal. Repeated and overused types of behavor, interests, and play. For (EXAMPLES) include body rocking, unusual attachments to objects, and getting very upset when rountines change. There is no "Typical" person with autism. People can have many different kinds of behaviors, from mild to servere. Parents often say that their child or children with autism often like to play along and does not make any eye contect with other people, Autism may also include other problems.

Many children have below-normal intelligence.

Teenagers often become more depressed, and have a lot of anxiety, especially if they have average or above-average intelligence.

Some children get seizure disorder such as epilepsy by their teen years..

What is Autism
Written by littlebopeep1

I am wondering if there is any parent out there that does understand what Autism really is and what it can do to a person, who has it or may be diagnosed with it. Autism as to do alot with communicating, with other's in and out of home. If they can't communicate with you or with anyone else for that matter it can be very hard to understand in what their (NEEDS ARE). And why is that because they can't talk. So this is something that I would like everyone too understand, and know about what Autism. Some people think when they hit  2 years of age and they are not talking that right away there is something wrong, not always. Some children will speak when they are ready, but you as a parent has that right to have your child ( Evaluated just to rule out any disorders with your child or children.

What is Autism??

Autism is a brain disorder that often makes it hard to communicate with others. With Autism the different areas of the brain fail to work together. Most people with Autism will always have some trouble relating to others. But  early diagnosis and treatment have helped more and more people with autism to live independently as adults.

Autism: Misdiagnosed and Misunderstood
Written by AnnieBooks
24 December 2007
Medical News Summary (summary of medical news story as reported by Arizona Daily Sun): A hyperactive boy with poor focus was misdiagnosed with attention deficit-hyperactive disorder before he was finally correctly diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome – a type of autism. When the boy was 3 he displayed autistic behaviors eg he stopped using language, demanded routine, was frightened by certain sounds and made circular motions. With the appropriate support, special education and medication to reduce help him focus, the boy learnt how to talk, interact with people and even excel in maths and sport. Reading and large crowds still pose problems for him.
