When the World Trade Center Towers fell on September 11, 2001, Major Rose Oropallo of the Army Nurse Corps and NYS National Guard reported to duty to serve her country and aid in the relief effort. In the days, weeks and months that followed, rescuers and others in the vicinity began to breath in the dust from the fallen buildings. Only months later did these volunteers and witnesses learn that the dust they were breathing in was extremely toxic.
