Not many people are aware that one can save Navel blood cells, and even less is aware that this procedure may save lives. The story is Christian Williams is a typical example of how this procedure is helpful. When pregnant it is advised to be well informed on all the factors regarding giving birth and Navel blood is one of them. So ask your doctors opinion. Christian's mother, Christy, took her doctors advise to save Navel blood cells when she gave birth to her second child and this helped save Christians life.
Christy Williams from Spencerville in Texas can be grateful to the doctor who instructed her to keep the navel blood of her new born child. These blood cells helped save the life of her eldest son, Christian. When Christy was five months pregnant her son complained of pain in his legs. At first the William's were not too concerned, as they thought Christian may be suffering from growing pains. However, the pain continued and eventually and regretfully christen as diagnosed as suffering a rare type of Leukaemia cancer. Four year old Christian was in for a long fight that included intensive chemotherapy, but the navel blood of his brother was the key to saving his life and helping him overcome the disease. Navel blood is sometimes called "liquid gold" in medicine, because it can help treat so many illnesses.
The family's prayers were answered when it was confirmed that the new baby's navel blood is matching to Christian's and can be implanted to help him recover from his illness. After intensive chemo therapy to prepare for the implantation the navel blood cells were inserted into Christian's spine at the beginning of March 2004, in a procedure that lasted only a few minutes. After a month the first results were visible. Christian's immune system recovered and his body started producing healthy blood cells. The boy was feeling well too. Easter 2004 was celebrated by the Williams's with great happiness. Today, Christian is healthy and active. Doctors are optimistic and he can hardly wait to start school.
"If we ever have another baby, I will certainly save his/her navel blood cells." Christy says, "I cannot think of a better investment for my family's health and welfare and I recommend the procedure warmly".
