MDJunction to me

grandmasylvia"MDJ has been "a soft place to fall" for me as Dr Phil says. I have this very painful rare disease Dercum's Disease and take comfort in finding others here who share their knowledge and compassion. Many
members have helped me just by understanding my anguish and validating
my pain. We are working together to encourage research toward a cure.

My name is Cynthia, and I am a wife and mother to a little princess. Currently I do not work, but I hold a bachelor's degree in accounting and a CPA license. I enjoy reading, playing piano, helping my daughter with violin, listening to music, and just being able to get out and do the little things I have not been able to do for most of the past year.

After six long years of symptoms, I was finally diagnosed with PAI and SAI in December 2009. I was very fortunate to get a great endocrinologist the first time! It took longer to find a great GP, but he was well worth the wait. We are working out some of the secondary problems now, but I have every faith that he will listen and see me through to the best of his ability.

Getting diagnosed and getting "well" require traveling a very long and complicated road, and there really isn't a good map. But my friends here at MDJ have provided me a lot of assistance and direction. Without all of you, I do not think I would have made it this far! I hope I am able to give at least a little bit of that back. Along the way, we can cry together and we can laugh together. I just hope we laugh a little more than we cry!
